The Oasis of the Seas stretched the boundaries of ship building with it's introduction of the Royal Promenade onboard the Voyager of the Seas in 1999. They then pushed it farther with the announcement of Central Park located right above it onboard the Oasis of the Seas. That still wasn't good enough for Royal Caribbean so they announced the Boardwalk zone as well. Located at the aft of deck 6 it extends from the end of the Royal Promenade through the use of a staircase and bridge through the atrium all the way to the farthest aft point of the ship. Upon entering the boardwalk guest travel through a two story tunnel featuring hand carved carousel horses showing the process involved in creating the first Carousel at sea located right at the start of the boardwalk. The boardwalk like Central Park offers guests the chance to stay in an interior cabin with a balcony and fresh air. This area also offers a partial ocean view though an a more lively atmosphere. Along the sides of the Boardwalk are venues offering al sorts of traditional goodies from an ice cream parlor to a candy store and small boutiques. The end of the Boardwalk features the new location of RCCL's staple Johnny Rockets venue as well as a new seafood venue known as the Seafood Shack. The very end of the Boardwalk opens onto the Oasis of the Seas most unique and famous feature, the 750 seat AquaTheater venue. This is home to the largest and deepest freshwater pool at sea with a variable depth of up to 18 feet. The venue also features hundreds of lights and water nozzles capable of shooting water to heights of over 65 feet high as well as a pair of LED TV screens to broadcast all the action. This is also the location of the two 43 foot tall rock climbing walls.
