YouTube Video Description

Greetings fellow travelers and cruisers join me for a quick top deck Tour of the Panama Canal Entrance. The entrance to the Panama Canal on the Atlantic side is near the city of Colón at about 9° 18' N, 79° 55' W1. The canal runs due south from its entrance at Colón through the Gatún Locks to a point in the widest portion of Gatún Lake; it then turns sharply toward the east and follows a course generally to the southeast until it reaches the Bay of Panama on the Pacific side2. The Panama Canal is an artificial 82 km waterway in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean and divides North and South America.
