P&O Cruise Ship "Aurora" arrives home after engine room fire at sea.

The P&O Cruise Ship "Aurora" made it safely back in Southampton her homeport early this morning 26th September 2017 from her last port call of Praia da Vitoria in the Azores. She was scheduled for a 06:00am arrival at the Mayflower Cruise Terminal. P&O "Aurora" was heading to Ponta Delgada in the Azores from Kings Wharf in Bermuda when a fire broke out in the engine room on the 20th September. The "Aurora" was drifting for about an hour in mid-Atlantic without any propulsion and electricity and after the fire was put out by members of the fire fighting crew, the backup generators were started up. She had about 1,900 passengers on board and a crew of about 850.
