Most cruise lines have announced British summer domestic cruising, including Princess, P&O UK, Cunard, Disney, MSC, Saga, Fred Olsen, Viking, Virgin, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. Meanwhile in the US, although cruising from the mainland still remains off limits, cruise lines have circumvented the CDC-imposed cruising ban by releasing cruises for sale from Bermuda and the Bahamas. Republican Senators have launched the CRUISE Act, to repeal the CDC cruising ban and instead relaunch cruising from the mainland US as soon as July. In Australia, our international border restrictions have been massaged somewhat, with the opening of the New Zealand travel bubble from April 19th. The bubble allows Australians and New Zealanders to travel back and forth between both countries without health checks/screening and without quarantining. The new bubble also contains a loophole, which will allow Australians to travel further abroad to other countries around the world, despite not being able to do so from home soil. Even with this open travel corridor, domestic cruising is still being treated like the family pariah - unfairly and in complete contravention of the success of domestic cruising in overseas markets like Singapore. P&O Australia have suspended cruising through to the end of July 2021. The Pacific Encounter, which has recently completed its refit from the ex-Star Princess is scheduled to sail from Brisbane on July 31st. The Pacific Adventure is currently not scheduled to sail until September 10th, though there are sailings scheduled for August 14th and beyond that are currently closed for booking. I suspect that these may change into domestic itineraries if cruising is given the green light. Thanks for watching, and please subscribe for more!
