Quantum of the Seas emergency stop at Azores

Quantum of the Seas made a brief emergency stop at Porta Delgata, on São Miguel Island at the Azores, Wednesday, November 5, 2014. A passenger had become ill and rapid hospitalisation was necessary. The sick passengers were taken from the ship by the local pilot boat and brought to a hospital in Porta Delgata after which Quantum of the Seas proceeded her maiden voyage towards Cape Liberty, NJ. Ponta Delgada is the largest municipality and administrative capital of the Autonomous Region of the Azores in Portugal. It is located on São Miguel Island, the largest and most populous in the archipelago.
