Scarlet Lady: Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico Arrival & Departure on October 17th, 2021

On October 15th Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady set sail on a 5 night Mayan Sol Voyage from Miami Florida. Two days later on the 17th she reached Costa Maya to make her second port of call in Mexico. She was the first ship to arrive for the day making her way to the pier and docked by 8:40 AM. A little over 2 hours later her dominance over the port came to an end as Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas arrived on the horizon making her way into the port and docking across the pier at Noon. Despite their size difference with Scarlet Lady at 110,000 GT and Independence of the Seas being 155,889 GT the two ships had identical heights with their pool and promenade decks perfectly aligned with each other allowing guests to communicate between the two ships. Scarlet Lady arrived 3 hours earlier, but both ships were scheduled to depart at 7pm with Scarlet Lady departing first at 6:45 pm and the Independence of the Seas following her out to sea as soon as she was cleared. Before they could depart though they made sure to put on a horn battle for all the guests of both ships.
