It may be the biggest modern wonder of the world, an incredible feat of engineering, and a must-see stop on any cruise of the Yangtze River. Ship2ShoreTV toured the Three Gorges Dam on our Viking River Cruise in China. Although we couldn't help be awed by the almost unbelievable scale of the dam, we also saw its effects on the people and land along the river: rising water levels behind the dam that have flooded and displaced farms, towns, some of the most maginificent scenery in the Lesser Three Gorges region, and historic and archeological sites. Definitely mixed feelings to see the dam and talk to local people about it.
