See our full cruise from Shanghai to Kobe, Osaka, Yokohama and back to Shanghai on Royal Caribbean's Spectrum of the Seas Since we've returned, we have appreciated this cruise more and more - the ship was wonderful, the staff superb and the food the best we've had on a cruise. The itinerary wasn't as good as it could be, with the immigration into Japan taking so long that we missed things we were planning on doing. Despite this, we still enjoyed everything. So, see the cities, the ship, the food, the shows and our cabin. In Kobe, we were worried for our safety, along with thousands of others waiting for hours to go through immigration. But once through it was wonderful. We walked a 1km long covered shopping street, stumbled onto a wonderful waterside festival and got lost walking back to the ship. We'd intended a day at Universal Studios Japan but it was far too late by the time we cleared immigration. In Osaka we did the Osaka Castle excursion, well worth it, the guide was excellent, and did a ride on the giant Ferris wheel by the port. In Yokohama we had intended to go to Tokyo but were again too late for that, so we stayed in Yokohama which has a wonderful waterside area. We took the cable car over to a huge shopping centre, toured a big amusement park (went on the Ferris wheel there too) and took a magical cable car ride back in the evening. One big thing on this cruise - the ship broke down and they had to have a part airlifted out. This took 2 days and we had to stay aboard all the time - looking out at Yokohama. They did feed and entertain us for free for this extra 2 days, but it caused a nightmare for those who had ongoing flights at the end of the cruise. We had a week in Shanghai afterwards, so we just lost 2 nights there. This was our first time on a Royal Caribbean Cruise and we will be back - despite it being American!
