Swanage Railway 'SPRING STEAM GALA' - 2015

The Swanage Railway's 'SPRING STEAM GALA' on the weekend of Friday 17th-Sunday 19th April 2015. Two big-name locomotives were the star attractions at this year's event with BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70000 "Britannia" sharing the spotlight with the NRM's SR V-class 'Schools' 4-4-0 No.925 "Cheltenham" from the Mid-Hants Railway. The 'Schools' was a first-time visitor whilst "Britannia" was been on Swanage metals before - although only working a 'CATHEDRAL'S EXPRESS' excursion. The full line-up for the gala was as follows... - SR V-class 'Schools' 4-4-0 No.925 "Cheltenham" (visiting from the NRM and Mid-Hants Railway). - BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70000 "Britannia" (visiting between Main Line duties). - LSWR M7-class 0-4-4T No.30053. - SR U-class 2-6-0 No.31806. - SR 'Battle of Britain'-class 4-6-2 No.34070 "Manston". - BR 'Standard 4'-class 2-6-4T No.80104. The Friday of the gala was a regular two-train service (with "Cheltenham" & "Britannia") supplemented by a demonstration freight train (with 80104) and Brake Van rides (with 30053). The Saturday & Sunday were the usual intensive two main passenger services supplemented by the two-coach semi-stopper and the freight train. Footage is from Friday & Saturday.
