BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70013 "Oliver Cromwell" was given the task of hauling the return leg of the 'Railway Touring Company's first 'Swanage Belle' excursion on Saturday 14th May 2011. Because Swanage's turntable cannot turn a large engine such as "Cromwell", excursions are either worked with two steam (one each way), or one steam outward with diesel back as far as Southampton before the steamer takes back to London via Romsey. The 'Swanage Belle' on the 14th was to be steam-hauled both ways, so "Oliver Cromwell" travelled Light-Engine with its Support Coach from Southall to Swanage via Eastleigh on Friday 13th. In order to face the correct way, the loco ran chimney-first from Southall as far as Eastleigh where it was turned around on the triangle before recollecting its Coach and making the rest of the way to Swanage tender-first. No.70013 is seen passing through Southampton Central on its final leg to Swanage.
