YouTube Video Description

Peter Knego paid a visit to the 1955-built passenger ship AURORA in Stockton on May 20, just three days before she mysteriously sank at her berth. The AURORA was built in 1955 as the WAPPEN VON HAMBURG for service between Hamburg and Helgoland. The first German liner built after World War Two, she went on to become the pioneering Greek cruise ship DELOS (and was even featured in the James Bond film "From Russia With Love"), the pioneering expedition cruise ship POLAR STAR (featured in "The Love Boats" book that inspired the TV show by Jeraldine Saunders) and PACIFIC STAR, the luxe mini-cruise ship XANADU, a floating expo ship EXPEX, the Christian Missionary ship FAITHFUL and the preserved YouTube sensation AURORA. Her full story will be told in a forthcoming documentary called "Man Seeking Ship" by Robert James detailing her history and how she was acquired on Craig's List by entrepreneur Chris Willson, who spent fifteen years gradually restoring the ship to much of her former glory. Sadly, now it looks as though this cherished ship is now at the end of her days.
