The first day of the Railway Touring Company's annual 'GREAT BRITAIN' railtour on Saturday 26th April 2014. Now in its 7th year, the excursion would follow it's normal itinerary of departing London and heading down into Devon & Cornwall before heading up towards Wales and Scotland before heading back to London over the coming days. The motive power for the first leg of the journey was SR rebuilt 'West Country'-class 4-6-2 No.34046 "Braunton" from London Victoria to Exeter St. Davids where the train was then diesel-hauled onwards down to Par. Due to the unavailability of BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70000 "Britannia", "Braunton" followed the excursion tender-first afterwards to be ready to join GWR 4073-class 'Castle' 4-6-0 No.5029 "Nunney Castle" on the up run on the Sunday. In this video, we follow the tour from Salisbury to Exeter St. Davids and is seen arriving at Salisbury before passing through Sherborne and Axminster before finally being seen detaching from the train at Exeter St. Davids. After running around its Support Coach up in the yard and taking on water, "Braunton" then passes through Exeter St. Davids tender-first on the Positioning Move to St. Blazey, Par.
