Time Lapse: Viking Cruise Ship Sailaway From St Lucia
YouTube Video Description↓
Enjoy the view from the aft of the Viking Sea as she sails away from the port of Castries on the island of Saint Lucia in the Eastern Caribbean. I attached a GoPro on to a gimbal and set it up next to the infinity pool at the aft of the ship... which provided a great view of things as the ship sailed away at sunset. This time-lapse video shows things at 10x the speed of how they occured in real life. So, what you see happened over a period of about 16 minutes in real life. While the camera was recording all this, I was enjoying myself in the Jacuzzi that's located next to the infinity pool. Tough job, but someone's got to do it! The camera used was a GoPro Hero 7 black and the gimbal was a Feiyu G5. Placing the camera on a gimbal created an interesting effect in the video... the camera stays aligned with the ocean and the mountains and the horizon, not aligned with the ship. So, the minor amount of rocking that occurs on the ship is very visible in this video. Just remember that in real life, the rocking of the ship occured at 1/10th the speed of what you see in this video. It was basically un-noticeable in real life. Quite noticeable in the time lapse, though! The ship, Viking Sea, is one of the cruise ships operated by Viking Ocean Cruises. We were on a 10-day cruise in the Eastern Caribbean, on an itinerary known as the "West Indies Explorer". Financial disclosure: Viking Ocean Cruises invited me aboard the Viking Sea as their guest, at no charge. However, they had no control over the content of this video.
