Day 7 of our Independence of the Seas cruise brought us to Rotterdam, Netherlands — with a visit to the famous Kinderdijk windmills. Getting there, however, was far from smooth. After arriving late into port, many shore excursions were cancelled or delayed. With limited time and a lot of waiting, we pivoted and hired a private driver to make the most of the few hours we had ashore. In this video: • Late arrival into Rotterdam and delayed clearance • Cancelled excursions and changing plans • Hiring a private driver last minute • Visiting the famous Kinderdijk windmills • Exploring the windmills and gift shop • Car trouble on the return to port • Making it back onboard before all aboard • Dinner at Johnny Rockets • Sailaway views from Rotterdam • Love & Marriage game show and promenade energy Even with the challenges, seeing the Kinderdijk windmills was absolutely worth it. This video shows what a realistic Rotterdam cruise port day can look like when flexibility matters and plans change. 👉 If you’re planning a cruise and want help choosing ports, excursions, or staterooms, I’m happy to help at no extra cost: https://getbyzach.com Zach is an independent contractor for MEI-Travel (mei-travel.com) #royalcaribbean #independenceoftheseas #kinderdijk
