If you're booked on a cruise out of Long Beach, California, you'll definitely want to fly in the day before, and stay at the Residence Inn Long Beach Downtown at 600 Queensway Drive. This hotel is about 15 minutes drive or a US $25 Uber from the cruise terminal, and has pretty much everything you need, with an outdoor pool, sundries shop, suites with kitchenettes, and a complimentary hot breakfast!
