"Adventure of the Seas", "Queen Victoria", "Oriana" & "Ventura" in Southampton - 13/09/2013
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
From two quiet days in Southampton Docks comes a very busy one on Friday 13th September 2013 with four cruise ships in port. Cunard's "Queen Victoria" occupied the 'QEII' Terminal with P&O Cruises' "Ventura" at the 'Ocean' Terminal & "Oriana" at the 'Mayflower' Terminal plus Royal Caribbean International's "Adventure of the Seas" at the 'City' Terminal. Prior to the ships setting off, we see two commercial ships on the move. Firstly, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel "Anvil Point" having departed from Marchwood at 15:48 heading for the Falkland Islands. She had departed at the same time as her sister "Eddystone" was arriving from Las Palmas. Following "Anvil Point" was the Chemical Ship "LS Concorde" that had been moored alongside "Adventure of the Seas". "Adventure of the Seas" was the first ship to get underway at 16:17 heading for Gibraltar. "Oriana" was next to get underway at 16:31 but had to go slowly to allow "Queen Victoria" (who departed at 16:36) to complete her turn by backing round to the Itchen River. "Queen Victoria" was heading off to Cadiz whilst "Oriana" was heading for Bergen. Finally, "Ventura" set sail at 16:52 heading for Zeebrugge. One last vessel of interest in this video is the Paddle-Steamer "Waverley" seen arriving back into Southampton just before 18:00 following a cruise around the Isle of Wight. Viewed from Hythe Marina.
