After Hurricane Irma: St. Maarten is Open for Business

St. Maarten was one of a handful of Caribbean islands to suffer significant damage from Hurricane Irma, which made landfall in September 2017. The cruise port was closed for three months, while recovery efforts were underway to get beaches, restaurants and other tourist attractions back up in running; affected islands relied on tourism to help get them back on their feet. We were one of the first to return to the port, after it opened in December 2017, during a cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas. Here’s a look at what we saw during our visit.
