Birth & launch of the Celebrity Silhouette

Celebrity Silhouette built by Meyer Werft of Germany , she was launched on July 23rd 2011 in Hamburg last week , the ship is currently on her maiden cruise. Michelle Morgan, the president and CEO of Signature Travel Network, will serve as godmother of the vessel. The cruise line's top executives, Richard Fain, chairman of Celebrity and its parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., and Dan Hanrahan, Celebrity's CEO, will also be in attendance , the ceremony was broadcast across Celebrity's nine-ship fleet. The Silhouette will sail a series of 12- and 13-night Holy Land cruises from Civitavecchia before repositioning to Bayonne, N.J., in November to offer Caribbean cruises. The fourth ship in the line's highly successful Solstice-Class, Celebrity Silhouette continues the tradition of unique innovation and superiority that began with the launch of the first of the class the Celebrity Solstice back in 2008. Like her 3 sister ships , she boasts an aft upper deck featuring real grass known as the Lawn Club. Unlike the previous 3 ships , the Lawn Club has been enhanced & expanded which now features the Lawn Club Grill, an outdoor dining venue where guests can grill their own meats side-by-side with Celebrity's chefs, or have it cooked to order. Facilities: Facilities aboard Celebrity Silhouette will include: The Lawn Club, a country club-like activity centre on the uppermost deck, with a half-acre of grass.[3] First ship in the fleet to have a grill at The Lawn Club called Lawn Club Grill which is in place of the glass blowing theatre featured on the first three Solstice Class ships.
