Creator's Key Takeaways

I think that this ship it appears more modern than some of the other ships I've been on.

I was apprehensive coming on this cruise because this is the first one I've gone gluten-free.

I found that everything was labeled really well and there was a good selection.

It's a little bit rough, isn't it? Little bit rocky.

Creator's Tips & Advice

βœ“Check buffet location as it may be at the front of the ship.
βœ“Gluten-free options are well-labeled and available.
βœ“Enjoy the all-inclusive drinks, which are strong.

πŸ†•New to Cruising? This Creator Addresses:

Join us as we embark on the Marella Discovery 2, a cruise ship built in 1996 and now operated by TUI's Marella Cruises. After a fresh refit last year, is she up to standards? Or is she just too old to be cruising the seas? On this one-week cruise around the beautiful Eastern Mediterranean, I'm sure we'll find out! They'll be plenty of ports to discover, entertainment to pass the evenings, and of course plenty of food and drink to enjoy. All in that glorious Mediterranean sunshine. This is an adventure you're not going to want to miss! #marellacruises #mediterraneancruise #cruiselife /// Day 1: Limassol - Embarkation and First Impressions Our journey began at London Luton Airport as we board our included flight over to the sunshine that is in Limassol. After some nervous delays after landing as our baggage took what felt like an eternity to arrive, it was onto our included coach over to the cruise port. And then, the boarding commenced after a smooth check-in process. What a feeling it was to step aboard the Marella Discovery 2, a ship you could not guess was 30 years old now! Once dropping off our bags in the cabin, it was to do some exploring of our new cruise ship. From the top deck, to the atrium, with plenty of drinks to keep us hydrated as we do so. Our muster drill was a breeze and once complete, and we had soaked up all the important information, there was time for a few more drinks, before a beautiful sunset, a smooth sailaway, and of course some late night snacks! There was but a short time before getting too tired to share some information and first impressions, before it was time to get some well earnt shut eye. 00:00 The Adventure Ahead 00:43 London Luton, Limassol Bound 01:58 Our Cruise Ship Awaits 03:01 Settling Into Our New Home 05:13 The Islands Buffet Was Found 06:42 Exploration and Muster Drill 08:01 Drinks in the Atrium 08:54 Setting Sail From Limassol 10:31 Our First Impressions and Thoughts /// Day 2: At Sea - Gala Evening and Tapas Galore! Day two onboard this beautiful ship saw us sailing West towards our first port of call. We wanted to enjoy our one and only sea day, so took a more relaxing approach to the morning. Enjoying the sight of the waves whilst the Captain gave us some much appreciated navigational updates. And of course a few meals and drinks go a long way too! We returned to our cabin for that much anticipated cabin tour, a real look at what a 30 year old cruise ship cabin really looks like. I think overall we were very impressed with the room and satisfied that this would make a good resting place for our cruise adventures. This evening was our Gala evening so after getting dressed up in suits and dresses, it was first to see another beautiful sunset. We then got to catch a short extract of the "Meet the Senior Officers" event in the Atrium before enjoying a dinner in The Glass House. Not sure if I ever found out how the tapas was! With our bellies full from some delicious food, it was to the theatre for a show by the production company called "Six Strings". Plenty of country cowboy vibes with this one that you just can't help but sing along to. Overall another fantastic day onboard Marella Discovery 2 as yet again she doesn't disappoint. There were some time to ponder the ports to come, as well as get some views from someone's first cruise, before getting some shut eye, with Kusadasi calling on the horizon. 13:51 Our Only Sea Day Begins 15:19 Enjoying The Snack Shack 17:09 Let's Talk About This Cruise 20:31 Take a Look at Our Cabin 26:41 Sea, Drinks and Sunsets 27:53 A Mystery Third Occupant 29:28 Meet The Senior Officers Event 30:44 Gluten-Free at The Glass House 34:00 How Was The Tapas 37:53 A Review of Our Glass House Meal 39:19 The Six Strings Theatre Show 42:30 Singing Along to The Songs 43:50 The Ports That Lay Ahead 47:09 Rounding Off a Tired Evening 49:46 Next Time We're in Kusadasi
