There was no power. No running water. No engine vibration — only the sound of the ocean against the hull.
We have no engine, no power, no water. What we can do is share our experience and the accounts of other passengers dealing with this situation.
The crew worked hard through this situation. The captain, the engineers, everybody did their part and their training has definitely paid off.

We were woken up on February 15, 2026 around 2:39 AM by a “Bravo, Bravo, Bravo” announcement — the cruise line emergency code for fire onboard. In this video, we walk you through exactly what we experienced overnight, what other guests shared, what was officially communicated, and how the situation was handled. Our cabin was on Deck 2, one deck above where the call was made. There was no power. No running water. No engine vibration — only the sound of the ocean against the hull. By morning, tugboats were working hard to guide the ship safely into port, as the vessel was not operating under its own propulsion. Our February 3, 2026 sailing aboard Celebrity Infinity departed from Barcelona and was scheduled to end in Athens on February 16, with a planned overnight stay in Athens on February 15. In official communication, the cruise line referred to the situation as a “technical issue.” The word “fire” was not used in those updates. During and after the incident, we heard varying accounts from fellow passengers, some of whom agreed to share their perspectives on camera. Because of the situation, all passengers were required to disembark one day earlier than scheduled. Our goal is not to sensationalize the event — but to document what it was like to hear an emergency code called at sea, how it affected two sailings, and to help others understand what these situations can look like in real time. We believe sharing firsthand experiences helps cruisers feel more informed and prepared when the unexpected happens. The next sailing — an 11-day Mediterranean itinerary departing February 16, was subsequently canceled. We now find ourselves unexpectedly in Athens, Greece, navigating what to do for the next 11 days.
