Cruise Ships & Other Vessels arriving in Southampton Docks - 02/06/2017
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
A very early start on Friday 2nd June 2017 to see the arrival of six Cruise Ships into Southampton Docks. It proved to be a very busy few hours as there was also the arrival of a Container Ship and a Ro/Ro Car Carrier as well. The first ship to arrive was Royal Caribbean International's "Navigator of the Seas" returning from a 7-night cruise to Spain, France and Portugal. She docked at the City Cruise Terminal at 05:10 hours. The second ship to arrive was Oceania Cruises' "Marina" at the end of a 12-night cruise from Barcelona to Southampton taking in Western Europe along the way. She docked at the Queen Elizabeth II Cruise Terminal at 05:23 hours. The third ship to arrive was probably one of the (if not THE) smallest Cruise Ship to ever visit Southampton - Silversea Expedition's "Silver Explorer" making what I believe is her maiden visit to the port. She docked at Berth 104 at 05:56 hours where she will spend the night before moving to Portsmouth to begin a Private Charter Cruise on Saturday 3rd June. The fourth ship to arrive was Norwegian Cruise Line's "Norwegian Jade" returning from her 11-night cruise around The British Isles which commenced on Monday 22nd May (see below for video link). She docked at the Ocean Cruise Terminal at 06:24 hours. The fifth ship to arrive was the large Container Ship "Al Murabba" belonging to the United Arab Shipping Company. She arrived from Tangier and docked at Southampton Container Terminal Berth 5 at 07:14 hours. She was assisted in by the Tugs "Svitzer Eston", "Svitzer Alma" and "Svitzer Ferriby". Following behind "Al Murabba" was Red Funnel's "Red Osprey" arriving from East Cowes and the newly refurbished and renamed "Hythe Scene" from Hythe Pier. The sixth ship to arrive was P&O Cruises' "Aurora" arriving back from a 4-night cruise to The Netherlands and Belgium. She docked at the Mayflower Cruise Terminal at 07:23 hours. The seventh ship to arrive was another Silversea vessel - "Silver Whisper" which like "Norwegian Jade" was also returning from a 11-night cruise around the British Isles. She docked at Berth 102 between "Navigator of the Seas" and "Silver Explorer" at 07:37 hours. She too will be staying overnight in port. The eight and final ship to arrive was the Ro/Ro Car-Carrier "Glovis Solomon" from Antwerp. She docked at Berth 44 at 07:07 hours and was assisted in by the Tugs "Svitzer Bargate" and "Svitzer Adira". Viewed from Town Quay.
