I will discuss the various pros and cons of cruising and then compare it with the pros and cons of land travel, including ease of travel, luggage, length of touring, extra activities and excursions, group tours, quality of food, nightlife, pace of traveling, flexibility of travel plans, lodging, travel research, and freedom to explore. I'll cover things to consider to help you decide what is best for you! Senior travelers: Cruising offers the advantage of simplifying the logistics and planning. For those with limited mobility, they usually offer excursions with various levels of activity. Cruising can be easier on your body and you can decide how much you want to participate in the activities. Land trips, however, give you more flexibility to design a trip to your specific needs. Solo travelers: Cruising can be an easy and safe way to travel; however, you often have to pay a single supplement that can be cost prohibitive. There are cruise ships that offer solo cabins, but they are generally more than 1/2 the price of a double cabin. Many cruise lines offer special discounts for solo travelers, but these are often last minute. If you can take advantage of these, it can be a nice way to travel.
