According to Crew Center, the cruise line was beginning the process of returning non-essential crew back home. It was just a few months ago that Norwegian Cruise Line was having crew return in anticipation of the resumption of cruising. Now, Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Joy will begin the process of returning crew back home to Asia. With this latest cruise news, it is unlikely that Norwegian Cruise Line will resume sailings in May as currently planned. ------BIG CRUISE NEWS: PORT CANAVERAL EXPECTS JULY RETURN------ Port Canaveral released a new cruise update to its fiscal plans. These new figures anticipate that cruising will not resume from the port until July. Currently, the four cruise lines that regularly sail from Port Canaveral have plans to resume cruising in May of this year. While this cruise update is a worst case scenario, given other cruise updates and the CDC Conditional Sail Framework, it does seem very possible that cruising might not resume until the summer. ------CRUISE UPDATE DISNEY CRUISE LINE CANCELS MORE CRUISES------ In more disappointing cruise news, Disney Cruise Line further postponed sailings. The cruise line originally cancelled through the end of March. Now, in this latest cruise update, DCL has pushed back the resumption of cruising until the end of April and early May. The exact dates differ based on the cruise ship. ------LATEST CRUISE NEWS CARNIVAL CANCELS MORE CRUISES------ In further disappointing cruise news, Carnival Cruise Line released a cruise update this week as well. In the announcement, the cruise line has pushed back the release of four ships scheduled for dry dock. Now, Carnival Magic, Paradise, Radiance, and Valor will not return to service until November of 2021. This cruise update also included homeport and itinerary changes for some of these vessels. ------HUGE CRUISE UPDATE VIKING ATON TO SET SAIL IN 2022------ In some positive cruise news, Viking Cruises announced a brand new river cruise ship. Viking Aton will set sail in 2022. This river cruise ship is purpose-built for the Nile River. The vessel will join two other ships offering the 12-day Pharaohs and Pyramids itinerary. With 41 staterooms, this new cruise ship will offer Viking staples like al fresco dining in the Aquavit Terrace, a sun deck with pool, and elegant Scandinavian design. ------LATEST CRUISE NEWS MSC GRANDIOSA RETURNS ------ Another positive cruise update comes from MSC Cruises. MSC Grandiosa resumed sailing last Sunday. The cruise ship had originally began sailing back in August from Genoa. Though, there was a short pause in cruising at the end of 2020 due to government travel restrictions around the holidays.
