This Virgin Voyages shore excursion takes us speeding through the Panama Canal shipping lanes, surrounded by huge container ships, before slowing down to explore the jungle-covered islands of Gatun Lake in search of wildlife. Along the way we encounter howler monkeys, white-faced capuchins, tamarins, sloths, crocodiles, bats, iguanas and more, all while learning about the fascinating history of the Panama Canal and how Gatun Lake helped shape modern Panama. Could this actually be the best cruise excursion we’ve ever done? 👀 From speeding through the Panama Canal shipping lanes alongside enormous cargo ships, to hearing howler monkeys echo through the jungle and spotting sloths hidden high in the trees, this ended up being one of the most memorable days of the cruise so far.
