Creator's Key Takeaways

We were one of the lucky 1500 and it was a 30inut bus journey to cover the 17 km into the center of Nagata and we arrived at 10:30 a.m.

One notable thing about Nagata was the absence of tourist shops. But this just added to the authenticity of the place.

What a beautiful place this was and in such contrast to the day before. And here we did feel a connection to the spiritual side of this wonderful country and its traditions.

I recommend I recommend that one. That's really nice.

Creator's Tips & Advice

Arrive early to secure a shuttle bus slot, as only 1,500 passengers are accommodated.
Use translate apps at shrines to understand traditions and make offerings.

YouTube Video Description

Join us as we spend an unforgettable day in Niigata, Japan, during our cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum of the Seas 🇯🇵🚢 After arriving at Niigata East Cruise Port, we hop on the convenient shuttle bus into the city, getting dropped off at Niigata Bus Station—the perfect starting point to explore. From there, we dive straight into the city centre in search of Japan’s legendary shopping experiences, and Niigata certainly doesn’t disappoint! We wander across the iconic Bandai Bridge, explore the lively Bandai Market, and then stumble upon the beautifully serene Sanwacho Shinto Shrine. This peaceful spot quickly becomes one of our favourite moments of the day, giving us the chance to slow down and soak up the magic of Niigata away from the crowds. Of course, no visit to Niigata would be complete without sake 🍶 We head to the famous Ponshukan Sake Museum & Shop, where over 100 different types of sake are available from vending machines. It’s an incredibly fun and unique tasting experience, and we make the most of the amazing variety and quality on offer. Back onboard Spectrum of the Seas, the day ends perfectly with a stunning sunset at sea, a delicious dinner, plenty of cocktails, and a fantastic magician show to round off the evening. Niigata truly was an utter delight—and we can’t wait to share this amazing day with you.
