The Paddle-Steamer Preservation Society runs cruises all around the country during the year with various trips from various locations at various times. During late-September/early-October, the PS "Waverley" operates on the River Thames with her main base being Tower Pier in the Pool of London. She will also do trips up to and from Southend & Gravesend as well. In this video we see "Waverley" on a cruise from Gravesend/Southend to the Pool of London & back again on a very wet & miserable Friday 11th October 2013. The highlight of any Thames cruise on "Waverley" is without a doubt the opening of Tower Bridge as the vessel's masts won't fit underneath. Here we see Tower Bridge open to allow "Waverley" (assisted by the tug "General VIII") to pass through just after 14:00 and then turn around before the bridge opened again and she sailed out around 14:30. I really hope the miserable weather didn't dampen the spirits of those travelling on "Waverley". She returned later on Friday evening ready for a cruise starting from Tower Pier on Saturday morning.
