This Pullmantur Cruise Review is all about the Spanish cruise line. They have 4 ships called; Zenith, Horizon, Monarch and Sovereign. Pullmantur cruises are a sort of Mediterranean version of Royal Caribbean with a distinctly Spanish feel. As the two ships are sisters you can expect to find virtually the same layout and facilities on board both. Both built in the early nineties they still look more ship than floating block of flats and both have a relatively small (by modern standards) capacity of around 18 hundred guests so you’ll find that you never feel overcrowded in the public areas. You can find the normal Reception area, excursions desk, photo gallery and internet centre on board as you would with any other cruise line. Dining options on board these ships tend to be fewer than the two ex-Royal ships. Both have a main dining restaurant with waiter service and multi course meals served from an international menu that changes every day. Both ships also feature a large buffet restaurant and alfresco dining area. If you're travelling with a family both ships have kids clubs and games arcades as well as card rooms and libraries for those who want a quieter life. For the bigger kids both ships have good sized nightclubs with well stocked bars & plenty of space for dancing.. and if you’re a bit shy about hitting the floor chances are you might find a crew member or two dragging you up for a boogie. Accommodation on board is larger than average as although the ships have all been re-vamped and re-furbed they were built before the more recent trend of ever shrinking cabins… You have the choice of either inside, ocean view, balcony or suite with the suites coming with that addition of extra private outdoor space. The other two ships in the fleet are the ex-Royal vessels, Monarch and Sovereign, and they are much bigger, both holding around 2,800 passengers and have considerably more amenities on board, most notably the choice of dining venues. Both ships have the large central atriums we’ve become used to seeing on modern cruise ships; where you can find the usual array of guest services. On board both ships you’ll find two main dining rooms, plus the well named Panorama Buffet restaurant for self service. On the Monarch you can also grab yourself a slice of alfresco pizza at the Pizzeria or indulge in a sweet treat at the ice-cream parlour. All of this in included but onboard the Sovereign is Pullmanturs only speciality dining option in the form of Wu Restaurant. Here you can enjoy flavours of China, Thailand, Japan and Vietnam for a small additional fee but if you aren’t a fan of Asian food then there is some European dishes on offer here as well. Also on board Sovereign you have The Grill for a spot of alfresco dining or if you just want to unwind with a coffee then head along to Café San Marco. When it comes to entertainment the two ships are pretty evenly matched. Both ships have a Rendezvous Lounge, a Panorama Lounge and a Broadway Lounge. There are also the usual cocktail bars and nightclubs on board for the adults. The stand out venue though is The Waves Yacht Club on board Monarch. If you’re lucky enough to be staying in either a Royal, Deluxe or Grand Suite then you have access to this private bar and buffet venue. You can also visit here if you’re staying in a Junior Suite and pay a slight charge.
