Creator's Key Takeaways

We are on the Island Princess and we are in Nova Scotia. This is our first stop on an 18- night journey to Greenland.

Be aware of the black rocks. Stay away from the black rocks because you may get hit with a rogue wave.

It's a great picture moment or picture location. And then you get up close with the black rocks that they talk about that are very dangerous.

I could literally feel some sort of energy walking on the pathway. And then when I got down to the actual memorial, I just started crying.

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description

🚢💨 Instead of booking a cruise excursion, rent a car from a local rental company right at the port. All the cars were rented so we rented a car from a local supplier, Turo—a peer-to-peer car rental app—to reserve a vehicle in advance. Pickup was easy and just a short walk from the port, making our day smooth and flexible from the start. We arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia aboard the Island Princess and decided to make the most of our port day with a DIY adventure! With our wheels ready, we set off for Peggy’s Cove—one of the most iconic and photographed spots in all of Atlantic Canada. 🏞️📸 The lighthouse perched on rugged granite rocks, with the ocean crashing nearby, was even more stunning in person. Having our own transportation meant we could enjoy the views at our own pace (before all the cruise ship excursion busses arrived), get some amazing photos, and even find a few quiet moments away from the crowds. Just a short drive from Peggy’s Cove is the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial, a touching and beautifully maintained site honoring the lives lost in the tragic 1998 crash. The natural setting, combined with the respectful design of the memorial, makes this a moving and must-visit stop if you’re in the area. The drive itself was gorgeous—winding roads, coastal scenery, and small town charm along the way. This was one of those port days where the freedom of having your own car truly elevated the experience. 🚗💙 👉 Have you ever rented a car on a port day? 👉 Have you visited Peggy’s Cove or the Swissair Memorial?
