A busy afternoon and evening in Southampton Docks on Tuesday 11th March 2014 with three cruise ships plus the first container ship to use the newly-constructed berth at the Container Terminal. We begin with the container ship "Hyundai Tenacity" arriving from Le Havre assisted by the tugs "Svitzer Alma" (leading) and the new addition "Svitzer Harty" (trailing). She docked at the new Container Terminal berth SCT5 at 16:46, becoming the first vessel to do so. Following the "Hyundai Tenacity" was the Red Funnel ferry "Red Eagle" from East Cowes with the Grimaldi Car Carrier "Grande Roma" behind her arriving from Valencia, assisted by the tugs "Svitzer Surrey" (leading) & "Svitzer Ferriby" (trailing) and docking at Berth 105 at 17:02. Next we see three smaller vessels: Hythe Ferry "Great Expectations" approaching Town Quay from Hythe Pier; "Huelin Dispatch" moving from her usual Berth 45 up to the Container Terminal to collect more containers before later sailing to Jersey at 17:29; and also the dredger "Cornelis Zanen" moving up towards the Western Docks. At around 17:00 the cruise ships started to get underway, beginning with Saga Holidays' "Saga Sapphire" from the 'QEII' Terminal/Berth 38/9 at 16:56 heading off to Ijmuiden, Holland. She was immediately followed by her fleetmate "Saga Pearl II" from the 'City' Terminal/Berth 101 at 17:00 heading off on a 31-night Mediterranean Odyssey cruise to with the first Port of Call being La Corunna, Spain. Returning two hours later, we end the video with the departure of AIDA Cruises' "AIDAsol" from the 'Ocean' Terminal/Berth 46 at 19:17 heading off on the next leg of her 7-night Northern Europe cruise from Hamburg with the next Port of Call being Zeebrugge, Belgium. Viewed from the Town Quay.
