Creator's Key Takeaways
For those of us who love classic ships, the Aurora's sculpted form was a masterpiece of design.
I was so happy the ship had found someone who wanted to bring her back from the brink of destruction.
It was so worth getting drenched a second time for this pearl of a ship.
As a ship lover, it felt post-apocalyptic to stand beneath her streamlined funnel as it dangled over so much empty space.

About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionβ
After literally decades of documenting, following and researching, weeks of sorting, editing and writing and days of tweaking and narrating, I'm finally able to present my full history of the beautiful little ship that recently made news and won hearts as "The Craig's List Cruise Ship". Indeed, the ship's purchase by tech entrepreneur Chris Willson and the following she enjoyed from Chris' Aurora Restoration Project YouTube Channel is a big part of the story and were it not for Chris Willson, the AURORA's story would have ended over fifteen years ago. But there is a lot more history, from the ship's origins as the day cruise ship WAPPEN VON HAMBURG to the Greek cruise ship DELOS, the expedition cruise ship PACIFIC STAR, then POLAR STAR, then XANADU and then many years spent in various California backwaters as an unrealized Christian missionary ship, homeless shelter and drug den before being gradually resurrected, then partially sinking and then the torturous process of being scrapped. Not to mention she was the first German ship built in Germany after World War Two, featured as the Spectre Yacht in "From Russia With Love" and was one of the ships cruise director Jeraldine Saunders wrote about in her "Love Boats" book that inspired the hit TV series. It's all here and much more, brought to you in high resolution, with historic images and exclusive, one of a kind video.
