Time lapse: cruise ship docks in St Lucia
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
A timelapse video shot from the Carnival Freedom cruise ship as she arrives in Castries, St Lucia. It's interesting how the video appears almost black & white at the beginning, due to clouds and the direction of the sun... and by the end of the video all the colors come alive, not unlike something out of The Wizard Of Oz. Notice the arrival of the pilot boat about 13 seconds in to the video. After dropping off the local pilot (who helps guide the ship in to port safely) you see the pilot boat leave a few seconds later. A little more than a minute in to the video, the Captain turns on the side thrusters in order to spin the ship 180 degrees around. You can see the sand that is kicked up by the thrusters. Once the ship has spun around, it is in the right position for an easy straight-out departure later in the day. This was shot from the balcony of our cabin on the Carnival Freedom. The metal structure you see in the upper left corner of the video is simply the edge of the balcony's ceiling. This was one stop on a 12-day Caribbean cruise. This time lapse video was shot with a HTC One smartphone using the Framelapse Pro app. There is no audio track.
