About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description↓

We park the RV and hit the town running to check out the restaurants, bars and breweries on our first night at Stevenson to start our pre-Gorge Blues & Blues Festival fun. But not too much fun, the next day we hiked Beacon Rock and went to Rodney Falls on the Hamilton Mountain Trail. Both of those hikes are in the Beacon Rock State Park and requires a Discovery Pass. After the hike we went to Backwoods Brewery for pizza and beer! Getting around Stevenson on foot and bike was so easy and fun. We walked along Rock Cove to the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum and biked with friends to Skunk Brothers Spirits. All along the waterfront there are benches to sit and enjoy the Columbia River. Stevenson is one of best places to enjoy watching the wind surfers on the river in the Historic Columbia Gorge. There are so many trails around the area it would take hours to show them all. Access to the Pacific Coast Trail is also within walking distance and is so very convenient. Friday night and all-day Saturday the Skamania County Fairgrounds hosted the 29th Annual Blues & Brews Festival. With live music on two stages, corn hole boards, local craft vendors, over 30 craft beers on tap, wineries and a distillery, staying overnight for two days or more is a must to enjoy it all. The music was great. We watched Too Slim and the Taildraggers, The Coyote Kings w/ Timphony Dames and Johnny Wheel & the Swamp Donkeys, to mention a few. Bring your chair or blanket and sit on the field to watch the show. Picnic table seating was also available. Food vendors had great meals and served up delicious non-alcohol beverages for those who were the designated driver. Stevenson's Landing at the Port of Skamania County, American Cruise Lines the American Song is docked at the pier. Sailboats, wind surfers and kayakers take advantage of the beautiful summer day and join the ship on the Columbia River. Stevenson is a host to many sports and events around the year. From festivals to sporting clubs, this area of the gorge provides a gorgeous scenic backdrop to all activities. Restaurants, bars and breweries has food for day-trippers escaping the city. Walking Man Brewery, Rock Creek Tavern, Clark & Lewie's, Red Bluff Taphouse and Big River Grill are just a few that will never disappoint. RV camping is within walking distance at the fairgrounds, or a short drive from town at one of the many RV parks in the area. Motels and Boutique Hotels provide overnight comforts for those wishing to stay the night. We have been together since 1992 and have been traveling and exploring around the Pacific Northwest and beyond the entire time. Please join us as we go rambling around our next 30 years while living our β€œwork hard, play hard” philosophy. We will try to show as much of our adventures, tips and reviews as we can through our journey practicing for retirement. This channel will be about adventures big and small, weekend getaways traveling in the motorhome exploring our region to flying away on extended vacations discovering new destinations. We hope to inspire others to make time to travel, explore and discover what our land has to offer. We love to check out breweries, restaurants, local hikes in the area as well as traveling away to see what other destinations have to show us. We take our dogs as much as we can, but some areas aren't made for our furry kiddos. Climbing this steep learning curve, we are excited to learn how to shoot video, edit and upload for all to see. Not every video will be an award winner but all we need is someone to laugh and enjoy the ride along the way. Please follow us, subscribe and make comments about how you ramble around your area to inspire us to be grateful and cherish each day while rambling around our great land.
