Welcome back to my channel, and welcome to my latest vlog series! In this series, we’re exploring one of the biggest and newest ships from Costa Cruises: Costa Smeralda. Last week, I spent 7 nights onboard Costa Toscana, and I’ll be returning to that ship with my friend in my next vlog series - stay tuned! I’m really excited to explore a new ship that I’ve never been on before, and also understand how a newer Costa ship differs to a more ‘traditional’ one (I recently cruised on Costa Diadema, too!). In this series, Smeralda will be visiting various ports in Spain, France and Italy - let's go and explore some more of Europe together! Anyway, before we get into exactly what we’ll be covering in this video, let me tell you about Smeralda as a ship. First up, she’s HUGE! She’s 337m long, and at double capacity will hold over 5,220 passengers. At full capacity, Smeralda is capable of holding over 6,550 passengers, so she’s a ship built for the crowds! She was christened back in 2020 and, as of the point of her construction in 2019, she was the sixth largest cruise ship in the world - wow! So, what are we looking at in this video today? Well, we’ll start in my hotel room in Barcelona, before heading down to the port via the Cruise Bus (this is the cheapest way to arrive at Barcelona Cruise Port - a real ‘insiders’ tip if you’ve never cruised from here before!). Once onboard, we’ll sample the embarkation lunch, tour my Sea Terrace cabin, discuss various embarkation procedures, watch spillway from Barcelona Port, and then enjoy the evening entertainment onboard.
