We Skipped St. Maarten on Icon of the Seas… and Honestly? It Was the Right Move

We had a port stop in St. Maarten… and we didn’t even get off the world’s largest cruise ship. Yep — we stayed onboard Icon of the Seas, and after this day, I’m convinced of one thing: The world’s largest cruise ship needs more full days to actually enjoy everything it offers. When most guests disembarked, the ship completely changed. Less crowds, shorter lines, open loungers, and way more space to actually relax and explore. This vlog is all about what it’s like to stay onboard Icon of the Seas during a port day — and why skipping port might actually be the better move sometimes. 🚢 What we did instead of going ashore: Spent time in The Hideaway, the adults-only area located aft on deck 16 Infinity pool Two hot tubs Full bar Tons of seating and loungers Premium pool beds and loungers available for daily rental With fewer people onboard, this area was calm, relaxed, and honestly one of the best spots on the ship. Rode some of the water slides and onboard attractions with way fewer people — which made them way more fun than on packed sea days Grabbed amazing crepes at the AquaDome Market on deck 15, all included Finally found a cruise duck after way too much searching Ended the night with the Aqua Action! show inside the AquaDome — an insane combination of high diving, aerial stunts, water effects, and performance that proves why Royal Caribbean’s aqua shows are some of the best entertainment anywhere, not just at sea 🚢 Real talk about Icon of the Seas Icon of the Seas isn’t a ship you fully experience in a few days. It’s massive. It has multiple neighborhoods. And it honestly needs extra sea days or longer sailings to truly enjoy what you’re paying for.
