About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionβ
Happy Easter for those who celebrate! On April 9, 1974, thirteen year old Peter Knego paid his fist visit to Swedish American Lines deluxe M.V. GRIPSHOLM when that ship called at Los Angeles on her South Seas, Far East and Pacific Cruise. The legendary liner would soon be sold to Karageorgis Lines to begin a relatively brief career as the NAVARINO before becoming Regency Cruises REGENT SEA. On October 7, 1993, Knego made his only cruise aboard the once pristine classic ship, a short afternoon voyage from Ensenada to San Diego. This video captures the still gorgeous liner from a water taxi in Ensenada and on board as REGENT SEA made her way up the Baja and Southern California coast. Within two years, the REGENT SEA would be laid up and sold off following the collapse of Regency. What came next was excruciatingly sad, so we'll save that and much more for our full Decked! history and top-to-bottom REGENT SEA tour that will be coming soon, fingers crossed that this less detailed tribute gets a warm reception. To celebrate the 49th anniversary of Knego's first and only visit to the GRIPSHOLM, this video will premiere on April 9, 2023.
