A Luxury Escape to the Canary Islands

We recently had the privilege of exploring Spain’s Canary Islands aboard the Sea Cloud Spirit, an elegant three-mast, full-rigged tall ship that made us feel like we were back in the 19th century. We bookended our cruise with stays in Gran Canaria at two contrasting properties: Santa Catalina, built in 1890 to accommodate travelers en route to Africa, and Suites 1478, a contemporary design hotel in Vegueta, the island capital’s charming old town.
