Ad Join me in Ushuaia, Argentina, famously known as the end of the world, on our Celebrity Equinox Antarctica cruise. Nestled at the southern tip of South America, Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world and the main gateway to Antarctica. Surrounded by dramatic mountains, forests and the Beagle Channel, it feels remote, wild and wonderfully adventurous. During our time here, I headed out on a boat trip along the Beagle Channel, a natural sea passage that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and separates southern Argentina from Chile. We sailed towards the famous Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, often nicknamed the lighthouse at the end of the world, and passed a bustling cormorant colony along the rocky islands. We also saw sea lions resting on the rocks near the lighthouse and gorgeous penguins along the shoreline. Watching them play on the beach and dive into the sea was absolutely magical and a real highlight of our South America and Antarctica cruise. Back in Ushuaia, we explored the town itself, admiring the expedition ships coming and going as passengers prepared to cross the Drake Passage. As the true gateway to Antarctica, there is an incredible buzz in the air. And of course, we had to pose by the iconic Ushuaia sign. Next stop, Cape Horn, the legendary Drake Passage and Antarctica.
