Creator's Key Takeaways
I just wanted to talk to you about my all-time favorite cruise port in the entire world and that is wait for it drumroll Amsterdam Netherlands
my wife and I have spent three out of the last four summers there and it is an incredibly family-friendly city
the ships basically dock in the city itself the big ship cruise terminal is just maybe about a 10 to 15 minute walk into the heart of town
one of the reasons whether Amsterdam has done this is they've essentially extended their pedestrian-only areas they've moved big buses outside of the city

The port of Amsterdam is such a treasure, and with the large cruise dock right in the heart of the city it is a perfect destination to embark and disembark from. Easy access to the train from the airport will have you a short walk from the cruise terminal, this feature alone really sets Amsterdam apart when considering it for your home port. As you look around Amsterdam there is just so much history, and places to explore. From a day in old town, exploring the various museums, or perhaps a trip out to see the windmills that were such a large part of Amsterdam's history. So many reasons to love Amsterdam! We always recommend extra days before or after a cruise to take advantage of this amazing city. Pair an early season Baltic cruise with tulip time, and you've got a match made in heaven!
