For short cruises, we always stay on the ship at Nassau, but since this was a longer cruise, we decided to do an excursion. I am so glad we did. We chose the Blue Lagoon Island Sea Lion Encounter and Beach Day through Royal Caribbean. I have heard it is offered through other cruise lines as well. This might be my favorite shore excursion ever. It was organized and we just had a great day. The only downside was the 45-60 minute ferry ride to get to the location. The morning involved A LOT of waiting. We had to meet at the theater at 7:10am and didn't board the ferry until 8:20am and arrived at Blue Lagoon Island at 9:15am. With that said, I still recommend this excursion and we are considering one of the dolphin swims for next year. After we returned to the ship, we took a nap and then I went and had my hair done at the salon. We were pretty exhausted from the day, so we enjoyed dinner in the main dining room, visited the pub and then called it a night. Your tour includes a 30- to a 40-minute scenic boat ride through historic Nassau Harbor on a double-decker ferry. You'll cruise to Blue Lagoon Island, and upon completion of your sea lion encounter you may also observe the fascinating Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and southern stingrays in their natural habitat. A professional on-site photo and video staff captures your interaction with the sea lions and gives you the opportunity to purchase these memories after your program is done. After a wonderful day, take the ferry back to your ship. Highlights Ferry Cruise: Absorb the beautiful setting of Historic Nassau Harbor, as you take a 30- to 40-minute ride on a large double-decker ferry. Sea Lion Encounter: Interact with sea lions from a platform in waist-deep water.
