She is the first ship in the Edge Class of ships, and she is no shrinking violet. At around 130k tonnes, she’s similar in size to the Voyager Class from sister line, Royal Caribbean, but a world apart in terms of design and facilities. She commenced sailing in late 2018 and ushered in a new and exciting era of cruising, not only for Celebrity, but the cruising industry as a whole. She boasts features unique to her class, none of which is more eye-catching than the Magic Carpet. This bright orange platform is perched on the side of the ship and wait for it, is basically a giant elevator. Yep, the Magic Carpet can be lowered and raised depending on the use. When in her lowest position on deck 2, she acts as a tender platform, transforming the typical tender boarding experience into something of an occasion. It doesn’t stop there though, when raised to deck 5, the platform becomes a dining venue. Offering al fresco dining with a difference. On deck 14, it becomes an extension to the pool deck offering additional lounge spaces and bar facilities. In its highest position, the Magic Carpet offers its guests Dinner on the Edge, an exciting dining experience perched high above the main pool deck below. More than the Magic Carpet, Celebrity Edge offers a range of unique areas onboard, including Eden, a captivating space combining entertainment and dining, with vast multi-storey spaces giving way to meandering pathways through the fantasy forest-inspired land. Every passenger onboard Celebrity Edge will enjoy the benefit of sailing in a state of the art ship, complete with smart-functioning rooms with touch panels for lighting and blinds that can be mirrored on your very own smartphone. Luxury bedding and room finishes will ensure comfortable travel for all, while those that prefer the absolute best in luxury accommodations will be impressed by the dual storey Edge Villas, complete with private plunge pool and direct access to the suite-only Retreat. The Retreat offers suite guests a private pool and hot tub, dining and bar options and glimmering sea views from every perfectly padded lounge chair. The main pool deck is a uniquely designed space, complete with martini glass inspired hot tubs, and don’t forget the incredible rooftop garden. Offering a bar and grill, you’ll find yourself enjoying live music from musicians seated in treetop sculptures. There’s no doubt that Celebrity Edge is a game changer in the cruising industry, and that’s why it’s so exciting that Celebrity have announced she will be calling Australia home for the 2023/2024 summer cruise season. There will be 12 voyages on offer, ranging from 6 to 13 nights in duration and offering departures from both Sydney and Auckland. There will be 7 itineraries taking in the sights of New Zealand, one South Pacific voyage, two Queensland coastal cruises, one Tasmania cruise and one southern Australia cruise calling in Kangaroo Island. Celebrity recently introduced it’s Always Included fare structure. That means every guest’s fare includes a drinks package, unlimited wifi and tips. The benefit of this pricing structure is of course, having more control of your onboard spending. For guests staying in a suite, Always Included goes one step further. Giving you access to a suites only restaurant called Luminae, an exclusive lounge area, as well as a private pool deck known as The Retreat. You’ll also receive the premium drinks package, unlimited streaming quality wifi, as well as onboard credit to spend anyway you like. The new season goes on sale in October with Captain’s Club loyalty members gaining priority access to bookings on October 13th, and the general public on October 15th. At the time of recording, pricing hadn’t been announced but for a great deal on the new Celebrity Edge sailings, head to my website or contact on Facebook or Instagram. Thanks for watching!
