So, which one is better and more importantly, which one gives you a better value on your miles and points? Well, it really depends on the type of trip you want. If you just wanna go to one place and relax on the beach for a few days, then book an all-inclusive. If you wanna quickly move from one place to the next and get a taste of different places in the Caribbean or Mediterranean then a cruise is the obvious choice. Cost wise, cruises will generally be less expensive up front, but it's important to remember that specialty drinks and dining will often cost extra, not to mention the high cost of excursions and gratuities. Most all-inclusives on the other hand are truly all-inclusive allowing you to budget for almost everything ahead of time and leave your wallet behind to just relax when you get there. But things are a bit more complicated when it comes to booking these with miles and points. Most major hotel brands allow you to book their all-inclusive properties using points with some programs like Hyatt having dedicated fixed award charts just for their all-inclusive brands with redemption values around 2 to 3 cents per point in most cases. Cruises on the other hand can oftentimes be booked directly through a card provider's travel portal but you're usually looking at just 1 cent per point which isn't great. That being said, there are lesser-known loopholes like Virgin Voyages who allows you to book a number of cruises with decent redemption values closer to 2 cents per point if you use Virgin Atlantic's frequent 40% transfer bonuses. I've personally done this multiple times and if I had to pick one, I would go with a cruise all day just because I go a little stir crazy sitting at a resort for a week.
