Here is an overview of Drinks Packages value. Is it suitable for you? Drink Packages on cruise ships. Are they worth it, or are you better own paying as you go? Some cruise ships have slightly better value drink packages than others, but they all seem pretty similar. We have been on Princess, Cunard, Holland America, P and O, and Carnival, and none of them seem to make the choice easy, for us at least. This is my overview of package pricing, the various drink costs, and whether the Drink packages are worth it. Firstly, the Drinks Package pricing. On this Princess Cruise, you could choose between the Basic package or the Premier package. And, if you are travelling as a couple then you both have to buy that package. On the up-side, it does include gratuities which can be around the 10 to 15% mark. Check to make sure you know what youโre getting. It doesnโt include everything. You can buy the Drinks Package on-board, but only in the first day or so. It gets dearer each day. Here is the pricing. You might want to keep in mind that we have had a bit of an inflation burst recently, so the prices here may be lower, but should still be proportionate to the drinks package pricing. And, obviously, the menu will change. As you can see, the drinks menu is quite extensive. Itโs not like youโll go thirsty. So, is it worth having a drinks package? Well, it depends on how much you drink. I drink beer, I love it. I would bathe in it if I could. In fact, some times I nearly have. I would drink about 5 to 6 cans of beer per day. My wife drinks less than me, but not a lot less. The advantages are that you can drink whatever you want without thinking about the cost. The price includes gratuities, and you donโt need to see every drink youโve had listed on your spending statement. Also, you pay in advance so you know the exact cost. However, I donโt think a drink package is suitable for us. We have had a drink package on a cruise and have had other cruises without a drinks package. I got gout after the โincludedโ drinks package cruise. I think, and this is my opinion only, that you would need to drink a fair bit more than we do to justify the expense.
