Creator's Key Takeaways
It was fascinating to see how the locals in secret built these tunnels underneath the airport in order to get supplies, ammunitions and move people for medical treatment.
The food was superb and I'm so glad we went and chose a traditional Bosnian dish because wow, it really did blow us away and there was so much of it.
Overall it cost us 43 marks which is about 20 pounds, really good value for money.
The local beers and the local wines here in Bosnia and Herzegovina are absolutely superb, a real treat.

About our Bacon Score methodologyYouTube Video Descriptionโ
Today we explore the incredible city of Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina ๐ง๐ฆ and what a day it turned out to be! Starting with an early morning in Mostar, we take a scenic (and VERY rainy!) journey through stunning mountains and rivers on our way to Sarajevo. Along the way, we stop at one of the most unusual roadside sights we've ever seenโฆ ๐ณ Once in Sarajevo, we dive into the cityโs powerful history with a visit to the famous Tunnel of Hope โ a lifeline during the Siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s. This was easily one of the most eye-opening experiences of our trip. After that, we explore the beautiful old town, walk along the river with its many bridges, and soak up the unique mix of cultures that makes Sarajevo so special. Of courseโฆ we couldnโt leave without trying traditional Bosnian food โ and WOW, it did not disappoint! Incredible flavours, huge portions, and amazing value for money. We finish the day back in Mostar with a group dinner and reflect on one of the most memorable days of our trip. ๐ Locations featured: Sarajevo Old Town Tunnel of Hope Museum Scenic route from Mostar to Sarajevo ๐ฝ๏ธ Food highlights: Traditional Bosnian ฤevapi Local wines & beers ๐ฌ Let us know in the comments: Have you visited Sarajevo? This Riviera Travel holiday combines a seven-night Adriatic yacht cruise with a three-night escorted land tour through Bosnia & Herzegovina. The journey begins in Dubrovnik, where you board a small, four-star yacht accommodating around 40 guests, offering an intimate and relaxed alternative to large cruise ships. Sailing along Croatiaโs Dalmatian Coast, the itinerary includes historic ports such as Korฤula, Hvar, Split, Puฤiลกฤa and Mljet. Guided walking tours introduce the history and culture of each destination, while free time allows independent exploration. The cruise also features scenic sailing, swim stops in clear waters and opportunities to enjoy the surrounding islands and national parks. Meals onboard include daily breakfast and lunch, plus a Captainโs Dinner. After disembarkation, the journey continues inland into Bosnia & Herzegovina. Highlights include the waterfalls of Kravice, the UNESCO-listed bridge in Mostar and the historic city of Sarajevo, where East meets West culturally and architecturally. The tour also visits Trebinje and local landmarks, providing insight into the regionโs history and traditions. With flights, transfers, accommodation, guided tours and many meals included, the itinerary offers a comprehensive way to experience both the Croatian coastline and the Balkans beyond the Adriatic.
