About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description↓

Iceland is one of the most extraordinary countries in the world. It's name says it all - it's full of ice, especially in the winter, but even in the summer on its glaciers. This video shows the top 5 adventures you can enjoy in Iceland. I visited in the winter to see its amazing ice caves which are only possible to visit safely from November through to February. To reach them I went glacier trekking on what is Europe's biggest glacier, Vatnajokull. The trekking led us to the ice caves which are a natural phenomenon - be warned and travel with a guide - the ice shifts daily and they're not always stable. The colors and patterns of the ice are unbelievable - the shades of blue are unreal. But sometimes the ice is so dark it looks like rock and not like ice at all. Other top 5 adventures include petting the cute, local Icelandic horses, swimming in the amazing (and cheap) public spa/swimming pools and witnessing the northern lights (otherwise known as the aurora borealis). Iceland really is a phenomenal country. You've got to visit. It's unlike ANY other country in the world!! We used the town of Hofn as a base for our adventures, staying in the Hotel Hofn which is also featured in the video. It's either a short plane ride from Reykjavik or a 5 hour car journey - I took the plane.
