Come with us on our adventures as we attempt to "do Italy" on a P&O Cruise. Our 3rd port stop was Civitivecchia which is the rather busy cruise port for Rome. It is though 90 mins by road from the port into Rome. There are options to take trains into the city that many cruise passengers opt for. However the majority do opt for a cruise line excursion as we did on this occasion. A last minute booking for the "Rome on your own" excursion by P&O. A pleasant coach ride in and armed with a map we set about making the most of the 5 1/2 hours we were given to explore this legendary city and all it's historical marvels. Dropped off at the Colloseum, we explored on foot realising quickly that we'd never have enough time in Rome to do it justice. But we did have a great time and ticked off some of the must see locations such as the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and the magnificent Pantheon.
