Jewel of the Seas Review | Is This Ship Worthy of Your Weekend?

Creator's Key Takeaways
Jewel of the Seas is one of the strongest options in the fleet, believe it or not. I think that the ships are impeccably designed.
If you book Jewel expecting Wonder of the Seas or Icon of the Seas, you're going to be pretty confused. But if you book Jewel expecting a more traditional cruise ship, I think that's what still works here.

I’m back onboard Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas for a 3-night cruise from Fort Lauderdale to a sea day and Perfect Day at CocoCay. Jewel of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s Radiance Class ships, and even though she’s more than 20 years old, this cruise ended up being a reminder that newer does not always mean better. In this review, I’m walking through the full experience onboard — the ship, the food, the cabin, the entertainment, CocoCay, and whether Jewel of the Seas still holds up as a short getaway ship. This was my third Radiance Class ship and my 17th Royal Caribbean ship overall, so I had a lot to compare it to. I stayed in a balcony cabin on Deck 10, tried the Unlimited Dining Package with meals at Chops, Giovanni’s, and Izumi, used Diamond benefits onboard, checked out the shows and nightlife, and spent the day at CocoCay doing the zip line and my first-ever scuba dive. There were definitely a few surprises — some good, some not so good. The ship still has a lot of classic Royal Caribbean charm, the Centrum is still one of the best parts of the Radiance Class, and the specialty dining package was one of the better values of the cruise. But there were also a few areas where Jewel shows her age, and not every CocoCay activity felt worth the price. So is Jewel of the Seas still worth booking for a short Royal Caribbean cruise out of Fort Lauderdale?
