London to Oban for a Majestic Line Cruise | BA CityFlyer,Glasgow Airport Express &West Highland Line

Join me on a scenic travel day from London City Airport to Oban, where I’ll be boarding Glen Massan with The Majestic Line for my first ever small-ship cruise around the Hebrides. This vlog takes you through the full journey — by plane, bus, and train — with plenty of travel tips if you’re planning the same route. I began the morning with a British Airways CityFlyer (BA Cityhopper) flight from London City Airport to Glasgow Airport, departing at 06:55. The 55-minute flight cost £50 after redeeming around 10,000 Avios points and offered beautiful views over London and Scotland as the sun came up. From Glasgow Airport, I took the Glasgow Airport Express (Service 500), which runs 24/7 and departs every 10 minutes from directly outside Arrivals. It stops at both Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street stations, taking around 25 minutes. Tickets cost £11 for a single, with return and open return fares available. You can pay contactless by swiping your card or pay the driver with cash. Next was the West Highland Line from Glasgow Queen Street to Oban — one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. My fare was £12 as a railway spouse, but standard open returns are usually around £40–£50. Make sure to book ahead and reserve seats, as it’s a popular route and parts are single track. There’s a snack and drinks trolley on board, and both sides of the train offer amazing views of lochs, forests, and rivers along the way. Once in the coastal town of Oban, I stayed overnight at the Premier Inn, which cost £120. It’s clean, quiet, and does the job perfectly for a comfortable night before embarkation. The next day, I’ll be boarding Glen Massan, my home for the next few days with The Majestic Line — the smallest vessel I’ve ever cruised on!
