Magical Skjolden, Norway | Quiet Fjord Town from Sky Princess + Scenic Sailaway Views 🌄🇳🇴

Join us aboard the Sky Princess as we cruise deep into the heart of Norway’s fjords and visit the hidden gem of Skjolden — a peaceful town tucked at the innermost point of the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway. We start our day early, admiring breathtaking waterfalls, serene farms, and charming houses from our balcony stateroom, bathed in the magical glow of the midnight sun. Located far north, Skjolden experiences little to no true darkness in summer, making for spectacular scenic views around the clock. After a relaxing morning and a nap to adjust to the 6-hour time difference from Eastern Time, we ventured into town on foot. Skjolden surprised us with its tranquil atmosphere, a quaint bridge over a glacial stream, and a visitor center that doubles as a café, library, gift shop, and indoor rec center—complete with a pool and climbing wall! We sampled Norwegian snacks and fizzy apple soda, visited the local grocery store, and enjoyed a peaceful walk back to the port—greeted by grazing sheep on the hillsides and sweet cinnamon rolls from a nearby coffee shop. Back onboard the Sky Princess, we enjoyed a buffet lunch with Mexican cuisine before sailing away from Skjolden. The fjord views at sunset were nothing short of magical, as the glowing sun lingered above the horizon deep into the evening.
