The three pause in service will finally see the installation of her twin racing waterslides, and P&O’s other adrenaline junkie Edge facilities like its famous zip line. It’s reported that some minor enhancements and repairs will also be undertaken during the dry dock period. It hasn’t been confirmed, but after reports that Carnival Corporation signed an agreement with Starlink to provide internet services for their subsidiary fleets, I have to wonder if she’ll return to service with the new internet facility. Time will tell. She’ll depart Singapore on February 25th for the 14 night journey back home to Brisbane. Princess have released more information about their upcoming Sun Princess. The first of the newly announced Sphere Class, Sun Princess will debut a new main dining room for the brand. For the first time, the cruise line will offer a large, multi-level dining space. This differs significantly from the more intimate dining rooms on its other ships, and looks to be in line with Princess’ push towards a more modern and contemporary cruise experience. Carnival Cruises has confirmed that Australians booked onto the Sydney based Splendor or Brisbane based Luminosa can now use their online Cruise Manager to purchase shore excursions before their cruise departs. Previously, guests had no choice but to head straight to the shore excursions desk on boarding day to secure their tours. The new booking facility brings the company in line with other major cruise lines operating from Australia. Carnival has also released details of a 31 day transpacific repositioning cruise onboard the Luminosa. The epic voyage will see the ship depart Brisbane on April 1st 2024, before sailing to both Guam, Japan and Alaska. Finally, she’ll end the cruise of a lifetime in Seattle from where she will be based for the norther hemisphere summer season. Bookings for this bucket list cruise are open now so you can get in touch via my website if you’re interested in learning more. Finally this week, tropical Cyclone Gabrielle is strengthening off the coast of Queensland, and as of this morning, heading south east towards Norfolk Island. The storm has impacted a number of cruise schedules already, with South Pacific itineraries onboard Ovation and Quantum of the Seas, as well as Carnival’s Luminosa all being impacted. Ovation skipped several destinations in the South Pacific and returned to Sydney, while Quantum and Luminosa both diverted to ports in southern Australia. Special thanks to Jarrod for letting me know about Ovation’s itinerary change. Thanks for watching!
