Saigon Vietnam Highlights Tour (4K)
YouTube Video Description↓
Experience the sights and sounds of Saigon, Vietnam from our tour of Ho Chi Minh City during our one day stop there as part of our 14 night Asia cruise. This was with Smile Tours booked in advance before the cruise, and cost $85 per person, $50 for children 7 and under. We left the cruise port at Phu My shortly after 7:35 AM, and embarked on an hour 20 minute drive to Saigon. En route we saw the first McDonald's Restaurant of Saigon. The first stop of the tour was the Jade Emperor Pagoda (aka Ngọc Hoàng Pagoda) at 9 AM. The tour continued with a trip to the War Remnants Museum at 9:40 AM where we got to spend an hour viewing the Vietnam War from its own perspective. Afterwards the tour bus drove past the Independence Palace, and then parked next to a park from which we walked and passed by the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon. We then went across the street to the most crowded post office we have been in- the Saigon Central Post Office, which felt more like a railway station inside with plenty of shopping opportunities. Afterwards we ate lunch at Pho 2000 and the famous Ben Thanh Market- a haven for Vietnamese street food. We then took a Rickshaw Ride city tour- it was fun, scary, smoggy and quite the experience as you can see. It was daunting at times to be part of the traffic madness with the endless stream of motorcycle scooters and cars all around you. The rickshaw ride ended at the Bà Thiên Hậu Temple (Sea Goddess temple dedicated to Mazu). We visited a local coffee shop afterwards before heading back on the tour bus to the cruise port in Phu My. It was about 4:30 PM when we got back, well before the cruise ship's all aboard time.
